From the start, Poreotix was truly one of the most down to earth groups to grace Hawaii.  No Rock Star mentality, just a bunch of guys following a passion and having fun while doing it.  While in Hawaii, Dumbo got a tattoo from Matt at Pacific Soul Tattoo, they spent a lot of time partying at the clubs, hitting the beach, eating like Hawaiians, all with Hype 5-0.  Oh yea...  and most importantly working on the debut of Hypeotix!  Hype 5-0 and Poreotix show at the Movement, which was a huge success:)  I'll be sure to blog about that soon!

Overall, it was a nice to meet and work with Poreotix, their managers "The Dannys" and Bianca of Choreo Cookies.  Big shout out to Poreotix for rockin the NEWKON gear and especially to Charles who's been reppin the brand since the show.

All the way from Hawaii!  Steve (Pacific Soul Tattoo), Dani and Doug stopped by the office the other week to bring me some frozen Laulau, Kalua Pig, and Manapuas.  Like they say...  Just what the doctor ordered:)  Some Hawaii treats to fatten me up lol.

After showing them around the office and a preview of a couple pieces that are gonna be in the show, we headed out to one of my favorite places to eat, Piknic.  Not seeing my mentor for 5 months was definitely a breath of fresh air.  We chopped it up a bit and it felt like old times, Steve being the serious one and me being the smart ass bwhahahahaaaaa.

The next day I drove out to Si'i tattoo shop where Steve was a guest artist.  We did about 4 hours of work on my arm and blinged it up for the art show.  A lot more color and a lot more detail!  As much as it hurt, I acted like it was nothing lol. Normally, I'm not afraid to act like a wimp, but that day was different.  While I was doing my arm, the Uso's were all getting their Pea'a done.  Sua Sulu'ape Lafaele from Samoa was in town and was also doing work at the shop.
If your not familiar with a Pea'a, it is a traditional style tattoo that is done the old fashion way.  It is a process which is extremely painful, using hand made tools of bone, tusks, turtle shell and wood.  The solid black tattoo starts on the back and finishes in the belly button.  Overall, the design is a symmetrical pattern consisting of mainly straight lines and large blocks and shapes that extends all the way down to the knees.  Put it this way, the Pea'a took about a week of going in everyday!  Showering every two hours and massaging the freshly tattooed area to insure proper healing.
